Banish Those Boring Travel Journeys

Traveling is perhaps one of the most exciting things that you could do. Discover new countries, find new food to fall in love with, and perhaps even go on an adventure to a wild forest or mountain. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking or just relaxing, there’s plenty of fun to be had in the open.

Sadly, traveling also comes with one of the most boring things in the world as well: transportation. Being stuck in a 12-hour long flight or 5-hour long coach ride isn’t exactly fun. It eats at our anticipation and we can’t help but feel impatient as we sit in our chair and stare outside the window. So to help remedy those boring journeys, here are a couple of tips to keep you excited, occupied and ready for when you finally arrive at your destination.

Feed your anticipation

One of the best ways to get excited about your trip is to read up about it. You can use a phone, tablet or even a travel guide to sink in all the information, language and culture before you arrive at your destination. It helps if you have a travel plan ready so that you know where to go and how to get there, and the best way to do that is to look for a travel guide. There are many specialized places to go and depending on the purpose of your trip, you might want to look at special guides. For example, you could look for a food travel guide if you want to try some delicious foods from around the world.

Find something entertaining to do

If you carry a phone, tablet or laptop with you while you travel, then you’ve already found the answer to a boring travel journey. Many commercial airliners now support in-flight WiFi so you can browse the internet, keep up with news and chat with your friends during the journey. It is rather slow, however, and might cost quite a bit of money if you aren’t careful! The other option is to download shows, games or books to read while you travel.

Smart phones are great devices for people that travel often but want to keep entertained. For example, you could download audio-books and listen to them while you travel, or you could even use your phone as an eReader and finish a book or two while you travel. And of course, you can also game. There are lots of video games available, but if you’re into more mature games then you could try something like Unibet, an online casino with plenty of free and paid games.

Go to sleep

Jet lag can be a killjoy. If you travel from one time zone into another unprepared, you could potentially waste an entire day sleeping or doing nothing while you recuperate from your journey. The best way to avoid this is to try and get some extra sleep in. It’s always better to sleep more than to try and force yourself to stay awake, though this may vary from person to person. Try and time your flight so that you land in the morning or afternoon, and get enough sleep while traveling so that you don’t feel tired when you finally arrive.
