Gym Essentials: What A Man Needs

It is important to have the right things with you if you plan on working out. Can you imagine going to the gym and then realizing you have forgotten your pants!

Here's a list of all the things a (fitness fanatic) man should own.

A Wallet

You're too old now to be shoving things in your pockets. If you to look and feel more sophisticated, go and buy yourself a wallet. Something slim that can hold your cards and notes.

Personal Scent

If you are working up a sweat on a daily basis, then you're going to need something that smells real damn good. If you're just starting out picking a fragrance, find one scent you like, then you can build on that. Just don't bathe in it! Spray a little on your chest and the base of your throat.

A Sports Watch

Yes, you can check the time on your phone. But when you're in the gym in the middle of a workout, you're not going to want to fish out your phone. With a sports watch, you have all you need on your wrist (plus a stopwatch!) Some ever keep track of your heart rate which is a bonus.

A Recipe Book

Since you're working out, you are going to want to eat well too. If you lack ideas, get yourself a recipe book. You will have so many dishes to choose from. And who knows - maybe you'll find a real passion in cooking!

Gym Membership

You don't have to turn yourself into 'The Hulk,' but belonging to a gym or maintaining an at-home regimen is one of the keys of caring for your body. Gyms are good if you lack motivation, though, being around others who are working hard, will make you want to work even harder.

Gym Trainers

From minimalist to maximal, flexible to rigid: finding the right pair of workout shoes is a mental exercise in itself. It also depends on the type of workout you do. If you don't have the appropriate shoes - you can cause yourself an injury, so don't risk wearing your everyday shoes. Buy some proper footwear!

Gym Clothes

Baggy, knee-length basketball shorts, and tank tops are not suitable for your cardio workout. They look sloppy and hinder your range of motion. So, buy some real gym shorts that are designed to wick away moisture and keep you cool while not sagging or bunching.

You’d be amazed at the range of styles and fabric choices that don’t involve shiny polyester blends (like mens yoga pants - honestly!)

A Travel Bag

You have officially graduated from backpacks (or plastic bags.) Put all your gym gear into a more respectable carrying case that holds all your important belongings.

With the right program, the right food, and the right motivation - you will be feeling (and looking) better than you ever have before! It doesn't happen overnight, but you'll see results in no time.
